MLA format for a report
Organization Name. Title of Report. Report no. #, Publisher, Year, URL.
- When the organisation is both author and publisher, MLA 9 starts with the title and lists the organisation only as publisher.
- The report title is italic.
- Add the report number as the “number” element.
Example
Report on the Condition of Education 2024. Report no. NCES 2024-144, National Center for Education Statistics, 2024, nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=2024144.
In-text: (Report on the Condition 12) or Report on the Condition
What you need, and where to find it
- Author (often an organisation)
- Report title
- Report number (if any)
- Publisher (if different from the author)
- Year
- URL
Government and NGO reports put the report number on the cover or the inside cover. If the organisation is both author and publisher, list it only once (APA).
