The Harvard pattern
Books follow Author (Year) Title. Edition. Publisher. Articles follow Author (Year) ‘Article title’, Journal, volume(issue), pages. Available at: DOI. Many university Harvard guides also put the place of publication before the publisher (New York: Farrar, Straus and Giroux); add it if yours asks for it.

Harvard questions
Which version of Harvard is this?
“Harvard” is a family of author-date styles, not one manual. CiteForge follows Cite Them Right (12th ed.), the version most UK universities adopt. If your university has its own guide, check small details such as punctuation after the year.
Do I need “Accessed” dates in Harvard?
Yes, for web pages and online videos: end with “(Accessed: 14 September 2026)”. Journal articles with a DOI don’t need one.
How many authors before “et al.”?
Cite Them Right lists up to three authors; for four or more, give the first author followed by “et al.”, both in the reference list and in the text.
How is Harvard different from APA?
Both are author-date. Harvard uses “and” instead of “&”, no full stop after the year, single quotation marks around article titles and “Available at:” before links; APA uses “&”, (Year). and bare links.
